JdB Group

Our largest charging hub to date

At JdB Group in Hoofddorp, we created one of the largest private charging hubs for heavy goods vehicles in the Netherlands. Many companies start with just one or two charging points. JdB Group, on the other hand, opted straight away for an infrastructure capable of serving a fully electric fleet. The result: 16 charging points managed by a single central energy management system.

Scalability through modularity

Two Voltra Power Units form the heart of the charging hub: one rated at 1,280 kW and one at 480 kW. Together, they deliver 1,760 kW of charging power. Furthermore, the layout remains compact because we centralise the power in two units. As a result, there are no individual chargers scattered across the site.

  • Power where it’s needed: The power units are centrally located. We then positioned the dispensers at various points across the charging area. This keeps the space around the charging bays free for logistics operations.
  • One system, no isolated units: All 16 charging points draw power from the same power pool. Are there eight trucks connected to the charger? Then the system distributes the power dynamically. This means that no single charging point is assigned a fixed power allocation.

16 charging points with two charging speeds

The configuration is tailored to the operation:

  1. Twelve 350A dispensers handle the regular charging process. These lorries are moored at the quay overnight or during loading and unloading times.
  2. Two 500A dual dispensers provide four charging points with the highest charging current. This is where lorries that need to make a quick stop en route are charged.

This two-tier approach prevents over-specification. After all, not every lorry needs 500A. But the lorries that do need it can always use the charging points.

Smart control via EMS

An on-site Energy Management System determines the available power for the power units. This system continuously monitors the available capacity at the grid connection. The power unit then distributes the available power across the active charging sessions. This prevents overloading and keeps peak tariffs manageable. This means there is no need to change the schedule.

Ready for tomorrow

With 1,760 kW and 16 charging points, JdB Group offers more than just a charging solution for today. In short: an energy infrastructure for the years to come.
