Project

Boermarke

At Boermarke in Enschede, the transition to sustainable logistics has gained momentum. After the earlier installation of an impressive 2+ MW battery system (BESS) by Generation Green, the need arose for a high-quality charging plaza. The result? A smart, scalable charging solution that works seamlessly with the existing solar panels and energy storage.

Maximum flexibility through modular construction

The heart of the charging station is the 480 kW Voltra Power Unit. In this arrangement, two double dispensers (satellites) of 350A each have been chosen, resulting in four charging points.

  • Tailored space saving: The modular architecture immediately proved its worth here. The Power Unit is strategically placed close to the batteries, while the dispensers are located 60 metres away in the charging plaza. This leaves valuable space around the loading bays free for logistics movements, without compromising on power.

  • Future growth: Boermarke is prepared for the next step. The system is now set up for four electric trucks; this is enough for the future. Should Boermarke feel the need to create even more charging points, it is possible to connect two more charging points to the existing system.

Smart control: the synergy between solar, battery and charger

What makes this project unique is the central control via the Energy Management System (EMS). This brain monitors energy flows across the entire site:

  1. Solar park & BESS: The 2.1 MW of battery capacity buffers the output of the solar panels.

  2. Peak Shaving: When four trucks simultaneously demand 480 kW, the battery provides the extra power needed. This prevents overloading the grid and saves on costly peak charges.

  3. Optimal efficiency: The EMS ensures that trucks charge at the most favourable times, e.g. when the solar yield is maximum or the battery is full.

Ready for tomorrow

Thanks to the distributed arrangement and smart control from the battery system, Boermarke has a charging infrastructure that is not only powerful, but also makes maximum use of operational space on the site.
